Women in Construction
Springfield can claim to be blessed with many assets but one of the greatest is the presence of women in senior roles. Remarkably, the three women in question have delivered over 100 combined years of service to Springfield over its 50-year history, another indication of the loyalty shown by Springfield employees, it must be something in the water!
Lyndsey, our MD has been with the Company for 27 years. Joining from business college in Wigan, she has fulfilled most roles within the Company from shopfloor to boardroom and now heads up the Company, having taken over from Dad Ken when he retired in 2011.
Having spent 12 years building the Company into a multi-million-pound operation she loves to relax by socialising with friends and travelling to new locations with her husband Graham and their two children Grace and Harry.
Diane Rajcza is General Manager and fills her time multi-tasking her many roles including production scheduling, financial planning, and client relationships. Diane joined us as a temp, back in 1980, and she has now been with us for 43 years. Temp must have had a different meaning back then!
She started as a cover for our bookkeeper, who was absent on extended sick leave, but quickly proved invaluable to the business with her initiative and introduction of new working practices. Ken, our founder, felt that he’d found a gem that he couldn’t and shouldn’t lose and her temporary position was promptly made full-time. Diane has been present since and is now a key member of the management team.
Along with her office roles, Diane was instrumental in Springfield forging close ties with the MPBA, the association that represents the Modular industry at meetings and exhibitions, to build awareness and credibility in the Company and the developing modular sector.
Diane is as busy in her leisure time as she is in her work life, there are very few weekends where she isn’t off with her Husband John travelling the UK in their campervan, off to some music festival or motorcycle rally, or socialising with her many friends across the UK. I nearly forgot to mention she also rides a Harley Davidson!
Claire is our Admin Manager and looks after all things in the office, including procurement, financial management and keeping the rest of us under control. Claire has been with the Company for 30 years starting part-time as an assistant admin clerk but was soon taken on full-time and as they say – “the rest is history” – 30 years of it!
Claire is responsible for making sure all our suppliers are paid on time and sources all our materials, constantly seeking keener prices and opportunities to unearth products that improve our sustainability credentials. She has a particularly keen eye for environmentally friendly products and is responsible for our growing reputation in this area.
Claire spends her spare time walking and running after Bailey, her lively dog. Bailey also happens to be our office dog and is spoilt rotten by everyone in the office but especially by the postman who brings him treats every day – now there’s one postman who knows how to keep dogs placid & friendly.
