Employee Appreciation Day
Meet “Mr Springfield” a.k.a Andy Crook
Mr Springfield is the name our founder Ken Britner nicknamed Andy in recognition of his dedication, loyalty and commitment to the Company and his easygoing and accommodating nature.
Andy joined Springfield back in 1981 as a fresh-faced 17-year-old embarking on his first job, he has been with us ever since and fully expects to be with us until his retirement in 9 years’ time.
We don’t only expect him to see out his full career here at Springfield we absolutely insist!
Andy started as a labourer helping build the caravans that were the stock in trade for Springfield at the time.
Progressing through the ranks he has held roles in the press shop, spray booth, and driven forklift trucks and now also uses his immense knowledge and experience to train new employees joining our growing workforce.
Andy has been married to Paula and has two children Paul & Jodie, and when he is not hard at work at Springfield he likes to spend his free time watching sports.
Football and Rugby League are his main passions with Manchester United his football team and St Helens his favoured Rugby League team.
Andy’s son followed his Dad’s affection for Rugby League and played professionally for St Helens, Widnes & Rochdale.
This sporting theme continues through to the third generation, with Andy also spending time watching his grandson play for Rainford Rangers, a local team who incidentally, are one of the beneficiaries of local Springfield sponsorship.
Andy also features himself in the attached photo, back row 2nd left, as part of the Springfield 5-a-side team that won the MPBA Challenge Cup 3 years running.
When asked for his thoughts on working at Springfield and his long service Andy was quick to praise the guidance, understanding and support he has received throughout his time here from both Ken and Lyndsey, stating they were both “great listeners” and happy to discuss any issue equitably.
