CLIENT DETAILS:

Multi-award-winning MC Construction have delivered complex construction projects across the North West since 1971. They are experts in successful delivery within operational environments and in communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

MC Construction has extensive experience in delivering projects for education clients from primary to university level. Working throughout the busy academic year and the critical summer break period, they have delivered academic and staff facilities for schools and universities to exemplary standards. This includes Cheshire East Council who contracted them to provide additional classroom facilities for Park Lane an SEN status school.

They invited tenders for the project and selected Springfield as the company with the required experience in the SEN Education sector, a reputation built over several decades and our flexible attitude to accommodating client needs with massive choice internally and externally.

OVERVIEW:

Park Lane required additional space to accommodate their growing number of children with SEN.

Modular buildings were specified as they offered all the benefits of a traditional build at a fraction of the cost and time, as well as external cladding to ensure an aesthetically pleasing appearance in keeping with the natural environment.

A two-classroom building was provided with central toilet facilities including a bathing and changing room for the children.

KEY ISSUES FACED BY CLIENT:

Park Lane needed additional classroom space with special facilities to enhance the comfort and additional care required for children at the SEN status school. In particular, they specified a building that had a different external to the standard plastisol steel and chose a combination of Hardie Panel and Trespa cladding to provide the required effect and a unique visual appearance. They needed to also minimise on-site disruption and required a manufacturer capable of demonstrating exceptional standards in this important consideration.

WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID:

Springfield worked with MC Construction to match the specialised nature of the internal and external SEN requirements at the school, built the 2 units at our 40,000 sq.ft.factory in St Helens and co-ordinated delivery, siting and internal utility fitting out on the pre-prepared footings installed by MC Construction.

SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS:

This project was all completed to budget and on schedule.

The client was delighted with end result and are now working with us on future classroom builds.

This case study provides another fit-for-purpose building that matched client requirements and offers a comfortable, welcoming learning environment that is environmentally friendly, attractive in appearance and cost-efficient delivered with minimum disruption.
