CLIENT DETAILS:

GSK – Glaxo Smith Kline are a science-led global healthcare company. They research and develop a broad range of innovative products in three primary areas of Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare.

They also have a significant global presence with commercial operations in more than 150 countries, a network of 86 manufacturing sites in 36 countries and large R&D centres in the UK, USA, Spain, Belgium and China.

OVERVIEW:

A project we had previously quoted on, but shelved, was revisited by Contractors to GSK;  SPC Technical Services who were contractors providing a number of on-site improvements for GSK.  Our tender and drawings were put forward and we were recommended to SPC as a supplier GSK would like them to work with.

We were then commissioned by SPC Technical Services to provide an end to end modular gatehouse unit along with a 3 bay modular canteen. The project was fairly unique for Springfield and all units were supplied as “shell” only with SPC supplying and installing all electrics.

KEY ISSUES FACED BY CLIENT:

GSK were keen to work with Springfield having previously discussed the project with them some months previously, however, a Contractor had been appointed to carry out on-site improvements and responsible for the new gatehouse and canteen building requirements. It was agreed that SPC should make contact with Springfield and revisit the previous plans and suggestions.

WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID:

Springfield re-quoted the supply of the units as “shell only” leaving the electrics and other installation activity to SPC Technical Services.  This suited all parties. All the units were manufactured to the original specification in the Springfield 40,000 sq ft production facility and the delivered to site for fitting-out by SPC. Springfield delivered all units to site and handed over to SPC within 4 days.

SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS:

GSK were eager to use Springfield for the supply of modular building units having been impressed with a previous consultation but had appointed an on-site contractor to handle this type of project.  It was agreed that the new contractor would source the units from Springfield as “shells” for fitting out by their own staff. As a consequence GSK received the buildings they really wanted, SPC controlled the project and Springfield did what they are best at and delivered high quality bespoke modular buildings on time and on budget.
