Lead Time:

PROJECT: A 4 bay 9.6m x 12m Disaster Recovery, Replacement Multi-use Games Area/Community Building for Stockport Council – providing Home/Away team and Referee changing rooms, fully fitted kitchen, male & female toilets with community space for additional activity and wheelchair access to the building.

CLIENT DETAILS: Following an arson attack on the previous building Stockport Council contacted Phil Barmby at Loss Adjusters Brawdia Limited to source a suitable Contractor to replace the building. Edgemont Projects Limited won the tender to manage the project and appointed Springfield Mobile to build the modular constructed building and install it on-site for connection to all utilities.

OVERVIEW: The building provides brand new accommodation for the surrounding community and the multi-use games area that is a valuable space for the local children and offers a traditional children’s playground, 5 a side football pitch and full 11 a side football pitch. The building was clearly vulnerable to vandalism given the recent arson attack and full intruder and fire alarm equipment was specified along with robust security shutters for all windows and doors.

KEY ISSUES FACED BY CLIENT: A reputable modular building manufacturer was required with the experience of delivering a high-quality unit with attractive, functional yet sturdy internal construction and fittings to cope with regular use and high-spirited occupants along with a safe, secure external feature and all within a keen budget.

WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID: Worked with Edgemont Projects Limited to ensure the building met the detailed and demanding specification, built the 4 bays in our St Helens factory, then delivered and installed at the site which had already been prepared with groundworks and landscaping carried out by Edgemont.

SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS: A brand new, bespoke unit perfect for the needs of the local community with all required facilities including a fully fitted kitchen is now available for use by the local children ensuring they can spend their days in outdoor activity in a safe secure space. The security features should also prove a deterrent to a vulnerable building when unoccupied.
