PROJECT: Amenity Facility 9m x 7.2M 2 bay, modular construction.

CLIENT DETAILS:

Boulting Limited is a highly respected, multi-disciplined engineering solutions provider, operating in a diverse range of industry sectors in the UK and Internationally. Their skills are in demand and employed by several blue-chip Companies across the UK including pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca at their Macclesfield site. They have undertaken hundreds of multi-disciplinary engineering solutions for AstraZeneca as part of an ongoing contract and are a respected partner for the supply of engineering solutions.

Following the recent, successful completion by Springfield of a 2 storey 53 bay office block we were the obvious choice for the new building.

OVERVIEW:

AstraZeneca required additional Staff Amenity space to provide their staff with comfortable facilities to enjoy their work breaks.

They were keen to ensure the space was created using high specification internal construction along with the very best equipment available.

The facilities include personnel lockers, high spec. kitchen with heavy duty Corian worktops, microwave, and oven along with break-out areas to promote relaxed down-time.

Internally, great attention was paid to interior design and again very high specification was stipulated by the architects with fully plastered walls and ceiling and impressive lighting etc.

Finally, the importance of a quick turn-around to reduce the on-site disruption was key to the project.

KEY ISSUES:

The other key issues for Boulting’s and AstraZeneca were ensuring the additional building was aesthetically pleasing inside & out and did not have the appearance of a traditional modular unit.

Springfield pride themselves on delivering just that type of building and we are on a relentless mission to change the perception of modular buildings.

Boulting’s & AstraZeneca, having been delighted with their previous experience had no hesitation in trusting Springfield with the new building. The desire to provide an externally attractive building and genuinely high specification internal facilities fitted exactly with the Springfield principles.

WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID:

Springfield appointed an experienced, dedicated senior project manager; Keith Hynes to oversee the project from start to finish and provide a single point of contact. Keith worked closely with the designers and architect to deliver the aspirational internal design, sharing our industry leading experience on the possibilities available. Keith then produced the plans and visuals for discussion on each and every detail of the programme to ensure every wish was met. Finally, a schedule was agreed for installation which included a tight 2-week timescale to deliver, install and kit out the units.

SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS:

The critical factor in this building was appearance.

As detailed above the all-important need for external & internal quality and choice was available from, and indeed delivered by Springfield.

The unit provides exactly the employee experience hoped for by AstraZeneca and has been welcomed by staff and management who all now have a wonderful space to enjoy their downtime in comfort with the very best kitchen facilities, secure lockers and first rate interior design. An extremely impressive facility, all of us at Springfield are delighted to have been provided with the opportunity to be involved.

WHAT THE CLIENT SAID:

“I have to say I’m made-up with the building, it’s exactly what we hoped for and was delivered on time & on budget and all in all, in a very smooth, helpful, manner. Couldn’t be more pleased.”
