How Do You Move A Portable Building?
Compared to a traditional building, one of the greatest advantages of modular and portable buildings are that they can be easily moved to wherever you need them – when done correctly by professionals. So that you can have some insight into the process of moving a portable building, we have put this article together.
How Are Portable Buildings Delivered And Installed?
Once the building type you require has been meticulously planned out and constructed off-site, this is the general process that is followed to deliver your new building to your door:
- After all construction and testing are finalised, your building will first be disconnected from the mains electricity, water and other utilities.
- Sometimes cabins can be transported whole, but other times it may be that it is best to dismantle modules so that they are in more easily transportable sections. Modular buildings need to dismantled and assembled in a specific order and manner, and failure to do this correctly can be both dangerous and cause serious damage to the building.
- The next step of the process would be to carefully lift every part of your building by crane onto a trailer, ensuring it is fully secured. It’s vital that everything is loaded and unloaded onto a trailer in the right way, using the right equipment, and secured properly to avoid structural damage during the transport process.
- Afterwards, your portable building can be transported to the desired location via lorry. They can be delivered all together or in phases, floor by floor or section by section, depending on the type of building. Once delivered, they are offloaded with cranes and hoisted into position ready for installation.
- Once all parts have been removed from the trailer, your building will be reassembled on site. It will then be reconnected to all the necessary mains and utilities. The on-site coordination between multiple trades is significantly reduced in comparison to traditional builds, and building installation is much easier and repeatable.
- If the building is hired, this removal process would mirror these steps in order to take the building away.
What To Expect From Springfield

Overseeing the development from start to finish, your project manager will manage every aspect of the construction and installation, right up to handing over the keys – this will include work such as liaising with third parties, working through planning permissions, ground control and connections.
