Springfield Posts Record Turnover In Latest Financial Year

  • 250% Turnover Growth over last ten years
  • 44% growth in staff numbers

Springfield Mobile has posted a record turnover of £6.14 Million for its latest financial year from 2020/2021.

Given the closure of the business due to Covid19, resulting in 2 months lost production, the results are particularly impressive and a testament to the resolve, dedication and “can do attitude” of the whole team who have delivered above and beyond for our clients across the UK.

It reflects the success of an impressive ten-year growth strategy implemented when Lyndsey Duggan took on her role as Managing Director. The turnover at the time was a comfortable £2.41 Million but Lyndsey was ambitious and, despite the fierce competition was keen to do even better.

Lyndsey states, “I was fortunate because I had a good understanding of the Company having already been involved in all aspects of the business in the 20 years since joining the family run firm before I took over. This and the support of a strong experienced management team and a skilled and dedicated workforce gave me the confidence to put a long-term plan in place which addressed the issues which were vital to growing our business and securing our future.”

Central to the plan was the need to change the traditional perception of the old portable cabins to modern modular buildings that were tailored to meet the demands of individual customers across the public and private sectors. Critical to this step change was the determination to offer the client more choice, most buildings were built to order so why not build using the customers’ choice of internal and external options. This revised strategy was well received by the market keen to improve the aesthetics of their buildings and create buildings that perfectly matched their requirements and, critically, designed to reflect their personal preferences with a massive choice of finishes both inside & out.

Demand for the buildings grew particularly from the education sector impressed by the opportunity to leave behind the limitations and ugliness of old green stock units previously supplied by the trade which were generally units from stock with little opportunity to change and make fit for purpose.

Springfield provide a refreshing bespoke offering allowing clients to design their buildings from top to bottom choosing from a wide range of fixtures – décor, carpets, lighting, windows external finish, every fitting is client choice.

This flexibility and choice would normally come at a cost but the many decades of experience and dedication to constant improvement created the efficiencies to allow us to offer this bespoke service at competitive prices. This clearly delivered a compelling choice for customers with a decision between a unit designed exactly how they wanted it, their way, their style using our experience to guide them or a box from trade stock that they could try and make do.

Springfield’s vision has seen the company win awards as ‘Best Portable Building Firm – UK’ in the sustainable building awards from the prestigious Build construction magazine.

Lyndsey’s ambition is undimmed and continues to drive the Company to even greater success. Early signs in the current year suggest that this is highly likely given a full order book until November and a very healthy pipeline.

The strategy to offer bespoke product with loads of choice has proven inspirational as the market awareness increases and there is a realisation that modular building offers a genuine alternative to almost any construction project that not only offers all the benefits of a traditional build at the fraction of the time & cost but can be designed to be aesthetically attractive and absolutely fit for purpose.

Lyndsey says, “Our market research has highlighted that many of our new customers simply hadn’t realised how effectively we can meet their needs with modern, efficient modular attractive buildings of the highest quality.”
