Misconceptions about Modular Buildings

The use of modular buildings is rapidly on the rise, with more companies choosing modular buildings as their choice of construction. Our buildings provide more versatility, flexibility, speed and minimal disruption to a site. However, there are still some commonly held misconceptions.

Modular means temporary

Although some modular buildings are used for temporary purposes such as classrooms and administrative spaces, the advancement of our construction techniques within the past few years has allowed increased quality and longevity. Modular construction has been developed in recent years for many projects including hotels, apartment complexes and student housing. With modular construction the possibilities are endless.

Modular buildings are ugly boxes

This could not be further from the truth. Modular buildings allow the user to be creative and create a space that matches their needs. Modular buildings allow for design flexibility, along with options in size, configuration, and material. From interior and exterior design to layout, insulation and cladding, we provide a full turnkey package and can manufacture to exact specifications.

Modular buildings will disrupt work productivity

Modular construction actually reduces construction time by up to 50%, which helps to minimise disruption on-site and improve efficiency. As the majority of the manufacturing process is carried out offsite this means less noise, less traffic and less waste.

Modular buildings are not sustainable

Modular buildings are built using the same materials as traditional buildings but are more sustainable. The buildings are mostly built in a factory where tight controls are in place to limit waste. Read more about our environmental commitments.

Modular buildings are lower quality

Springfield’s modular construction processes provide a higher-quality build as several quality-assurance programs are in place to assure each module exceeds the customer’s standards. Modular buildings adhere to higher quality control standards as they are inspected inside the factory and again at the job site. In addition, all the materials used are stored indoors and are not subjected to weather issues.

Modular buildings have soundproofing issues

Modular construction provides a high level of acoustic separation because each module has a separate floor, ceiling and walls which prevents the direct transfer of sound. If soundproofing is important to you, one benefit of choosing modular over traditional construction is that this can be included in the design and specification of your build.

Modular buildings have temperature issues

Quality insulation is the key to ensuring a comfortable environment for both hot and cold weather. Springfield prides itself on creating an environment which can be used comfortably all year round.

Each business will have differentiating needs and working with your dedicated project manager will ensure that all of these requirements are met and any doubts completely erased.
