CLIENT DETAILS:

Boulting Limited is a highly respected, multi-disciplined engineering solutions provider, operating in a diverse range of industry sectors in the UK and Internationally. Their skills are in demand and employed by several blue chip Companies across the UK including pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca at their Macclesfield site. They have undertaken hundreds of multi-disciplinary engineering solutions for AstraZeneca as part of an ongoing contract and a respected partner for the supply of engineering solutions.

OVERVIEW:

When approached by AstraZeneca to supply a modular office block, to accommodate growing staff numbers, they were keen to use their in-house skills to design and fit-out a contemporary bright and airy office space conducive to efficient working conditions using high specification finishes. They needed however,  a reliable, flexible modular construction Company who shared their passion for high quality performance and attention to detail to partner them. They embarked on a search for a Company who could not only provide the modular units but additionally have an experienced installation team to efficiently handle the logistics of storage, transport and installation of 53 modules linked in a two storey configuration.

They were attracted to the services offered by Springfield who could demonstrate the flexibility, attention to detail and financial stability required to help complete this demanding project.  Following a detailed examination of Springfield’s impressive resource in St Helens and the knowledge that demanding design requirements and operating within tight deadlines were all part of Springfield’ s DNA the decision to instruct Springfield to partner them was compelling. The fact that Springfield already had a reputation for an industry leading passion to deliver modular units that featured high specification finishes, facilities and equipment proved further comfort and peace of mind.

The finished building also had to match existing buildings and prove aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

KEY ISSUES FACED BY CLIENT:

Identifying a Modular Building Company that could:

  • Deliver on time & on budget
  • Demonstrate experience in managing major projects
  • Financially sound
  • Have experience in transporting and installing multiple unit buildings
  • Show an enthusiasm to introduce new ideas on internal finishes and design
  • Offer an open-house policy for regular progress inspections

WHAT SPRINGFIELD DID?

Springfield worked with Boulting’s to design a 48 modular unit building to provide offices, meeting rooms, male & female toilets and canteen over 2 storey’s, with an internal staircase. The interior also featured break-out areas and vast open spaces to provide a welcoming environment for a wide range of staff including project managers, site manager’s and admin staff with particularly impressive catering facilities. Alongside the 48 unit building a further stand-alone single storey unit formed from 5 modules provides facilities for contractors in the form of changing rooms and showers.

Work started at Springfield in early June 2018 with phased installation to accommodate client’s requirements and a completion date of November 2018 on time and on budget.

SUMMARY & KEY BENEFITS:

AstraZeneca have an impressive brand new, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, energy efficient building that matches existing on-site buildings at a fraction of the time and money a traditional build would cost.
